Not getting adequate rest can wreak havoc on your health and daily life. You may have tried a number of different treatments, medications or habit changes but still don't feel you're able to fall asleep, stay asleep or go back to sleep. There are also a number of other sleep disturbances that could be hindering your ability to wake up feeling refreshed, such as sleep paralysis, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea or even jet lag. The inability to sleep well can have a profound effect on your work or school productivity, as well as an effect on your mood which can have a negative impact on your personal relationships.

Symptoms associated with insomnia:

  • Sleepiness during the day

  • General tiredness

  • Irritability, depression or anxiety

  • Problems with concentration or memory

  • Difficulty staying asleep

  • Falling asleep

  • Waking up too early

  • Not feeling well rested in the morning

  • Increased errors or accidents

  • Weight gain

  • Stress

How We Help

I have helped many improve or even eliminate their sleep issues through acupuncture, herbal medicine and health counseling. My goal is to get to the core of the issue and develop a personalized treatment plan to help you receive long term relief from your symptoms. This system is also 100% natural without any side effects.

Many studies have shown that acupuncture helps increase neurotransmitters and biochemicals as well as balance hormones that can be affecting your sleep. It has been shown to stimulate melatonin production, reduce anxiety and reset your circadian rhythm. I also incorporate acupuncture points that help calm the mind and shut if off when it is time for bed, as well as reducing overactive dreams and nightmares. Other points on the body are added to help soothe the nervous system to allow your body to reach deep relaxation and keep you asleep. If there is physical pain or restless leg syndrome, I will also address that. If the underlying cause is anxiety or depression, we will treat that as well.

This is one of the conditions where I highly recommend an herbal prescription to help strengthen, calm and balance the body and mind. I will also guide you through nutritional and lifestyle counseling without judgment or pressure. Having an integrative mindset, I will always work along with any other therapies you may be using such as psychotherapy or medications, and can even maximize these other therapies.
