How We Help

Research shows that acupuncture helps your body release endorphins, the body's natural mood enhancers. It can also help regulate hormones that could be causing your depression and help you better manage stress. Acupuncture also has an effect on the nervous system, which can help rewire your brain to help stop some of the negative thoughts.  Studies have shown that treating depression with acupuncture has a great positive effect, especially when combined with psychotherapy and herbs.

My treatment plan will always include attention to the body, mind and emotions, meaning I will include acupuncture points to help with the physical symptoms as well, such as fatigue, insomnia, brain function, digestive issues and pain. I may also include treatments to aid in removing shock or trauma that may be blocking your body from healing itself. After your full initial intake, I will create a treatment plan tailored to you that gets to the core of the issue so that you have long term relief from your depression.

This is one of the conditions where I highly recommend an herbal prescription to help strengthen, calm and balance the body and mind. I will also guide you through nutritional and lifestyle counseling without judgment or pressure. Having an integrative mindset, I will always work along with any other therapies you may be using such as psychotherapy or medications, and can even maximize these other therapies.
